Ernest Henry HODGES (1861-1891)

Born 24 May 1861, Islington, Middlesex at 3 Upper Bride St. His family having moved from Bermondsey between 1851 and 1861 before his birth. Son of Henry John Joseph Hodges (1830 - 1899) and Elizabeth JENNINGS (1837 -          )

1871 living with family at 73 Bride St, Islington ,/St Clement.

1881 living 5 Ebenezer Buildings, Islington. Occupation: gun-maker.

1888 staff barrel maker in the employ of Purdey's of South Audley street, London. One of 4 signatories who complained by letter to James Purdey about their rates of pay considering the extra work required on new gun designs.  

1891 Census , living at 23 Legard Rd, Islington. Occupation: gun-barrel maker.

18 Apr 1891, died from pneumonia at home at 23 Legard Rd, Islington – unmarried. His father Henry present at his death.
